Recorded a "jam session" in Ait Benhaddou

This village of Ait Benhaddou is semi-famous for its film credits, including Gladiator and Jesus of Nazareth. It happens to have quite an amazing kasbah (in the foreground) which is why most people go.

It also happens that I recorded a jam session at my little budget hotel there. Three of the guys who worked at the hotel pulled out their "tam-tams." While they told me that the drums are Gnawa, they're not. Some of the rhythms they bang out are related, but it's a different thing entirely.

In any case, it was kind of fun. You can find MP3s of the jam session HERE
