The Tortured Sheep of Ende

When we were in a little Dogon village called Ende, all night long we were kept awake by the cockadoodledoos, yells, squawks, baa'ing, braying and other painful cries of various farm animals.  If it wasn't a donkey wheezing and sounding as if he was passing a kidney stone, it was the roosters going off every hour on the hour (apparently having no sense of when dawn was). And then there were the tortured cries of sheep.

The next day after a particularly bad night of tortured animal noises, I decided to get out my recording equipment and try and capture just one little snippet of what we heard all night long. Part of what I find so funny about this recording is the giggles from us in the background as two sheep "converse" about (maybe?) just how much their life sucks. By the sounds of their cries, they're probably saying, "oh gaaaaawwwd, this suuuucks, it's so hooot out, I have this mangy coat on, I'm sweating, these people feed me crappy food... this suuuucks. Waaaaaahhh!"

And now, I introduce The Tortured Sheep of Ende
